The School of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) is one of the largest of its kind in the UK. We have a team of Europeanists who focus upon EU institutions, the wider European Political Economy, political parties and EU development and environmental policies. The department also has expertise in Africa, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and the UK.
Home to a diverse collection of research groups and centres, our undergraduates and postgraduates all experience research-led teaching. We offer a range of EU and European focussed modules within our programmes which at undergraduate level include Politics, Parliamentary Studies, International Relations and International Development. At postgraduate level we offers MAs in Conflict, Development and Security; Security, Terrorism and Insurgency; Global Development; International Relations; and Politics.
Our academics are happy to supervise research students from across political, international and development disciplines and much of our research is highly international in orientation. Staff expertise covers all the main regions of the world.
