UACES 55th Annual Conference 2025
Our 55th Annual Conference
Scholars, researchers, and experts from around the world will come together in Liverpool to exchange ideas, insights, and innovative research in the field of European Studies. Panel discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities will provide a unique space for academic growth and collaboration.
A diverse range of topics will once again feature on the conference agenda, all under the umbrella of Themed Tracks.
Liverpool, with its rich cultural heritage and vibrant waterfront, provides the perfect setting for this event. Attendees will have the chance to explore the city's dynamic atmosphere and enjoy the charm of one of the UK’s most iconic cities.
In 2025, UACES will offer the main conference as a three-day in-person event, from Monday 1 September - Wednesday 3 September, with some activities on Sunday 31 August.
Call for Themed Tracks
We're excited to invite Themed Tracks to the UACES 55th Annual Conference 2025.
Themed Tracks comprise a series of panels on a related topic that help structure the conference. Themed Tracks can cover any area of European Studies from a wide range of disciplines (e.g. law, politics, international relations, geography, history, sociology, economics).
The role of track convenors will be to:
-
Advertise the Call for Papers
-
Attract diverse and good-quality submissions to their track
-
Review and manage submissions to their track
-
Work with the UACES Committee during the review process
-
Form panels from accepted submissions to their track
-
Support the UACES office with the management of papers and panels in their track
-
Recruit panel chairs and oversee the running of their track at the conference
If you would like to convene a track at next year’s conference, please complete this short form: UACES 55th Annual Conference Call for Themed Tracks.
The themes of the track should be broad enough to encompass diverse disciplinary and methodological perspectives. We encourage convenors to ensure inclusivity by attracting high-quality submissions that reflect the diversity of our membership in terms of gender, career stage, and geographical representation. This will help to create a rich and varied programme that is reflective of the breadth of European Studies as a field.
UACES will continue to run a track on Gender and Sexuality and on Race and Decolonisation. If you are interested in getting involved with the organisation of these tracks, please email us.
If your proposal to convene a Track is successful, UACES will coordinate an open Call for Papers and Panels under the theme of your Track, with a deadline of 24 January 2025. Track convenors are encouraged to coordinate submissions from within their own networks but will be expected to be inclusive and open to submissions from across the UACES membership and beyond.
UACES staff will continue to run the registration process and timetabling for the conference but will keep channels of communication open with Track Convenors.
We look forward to receiving your proposals for Themed Tracks by 1 November 2024. We will confirm all Tracks and Convenors on Friday 15 November 2024.
