Best Book Prize
Best Book Prize
The UACES Best Book Prize is awarded annually for the book that has made the most substantial and original contribution to knowledge in the area of contemporary European Studies.
The deadline for the 2025 prize is 1 December 2024.
Eligibility and Prize:
The book must:
- have a publication date in 2024;
- be a first edition
- be written in English (or translated into English);
- be authored by an Individual, Early-Career or PhD Researcher member of UACES (the prize is open to single-, dual- or multi-authored books, but NOT edited volumes). The authors must be members of UACES or join in order to be considered.
Nominations for the prize are welcome from individuals or publishers.
To nominate, a PDF copy (or access codes for 2 e-copies) of each nominated book should be sent to admin@uaces.org by the nomination deadline, clearly identifying the book as being nominated for the prize. If you are an individual nominating your book for the prize, please CC your editor into the email and UACES will coordinate access to the e-copy.
If your book is published between the deadline and 31 December you can still be considered for the 2025 prize. If this is the case, and you wish to nominate yourself, please contact admin@uaces.org prior to the deadline, stating that you wish to be considered for an extension.
Note: In the interests of equality and diversity publishers should ensure that for every book they nominate by a male author, they nominate a book by a female author as well. This requirement does not apply to self-nominations by authors.
The prize is 100 GBP and the winning author will be invited to attend our Annual Conference as our guest and to collect the prize.
We look forward to receiving your submissions.
